Software built for gamers turns out to solve a very ordinary office problem: too many sounds coming out of one computer, and one microphone picking up everything in the room. If you spend your day hopping between meetings, music, notification pings and the occasional training video, a gaming audio suite gives you controls that the operating system and most meeting apps simply do not offer. Why the mixer matters more than the microphone

Most people arrive at these tools for the mic cleanup, but the routing is the feature that changes daily life. The suite creates several virtual playback devices, and you assign each application to one of them. Your meeting app goes to the chat channel, your browser to media, your music player to another. From then on, each has an independent volume control in a single panel.

The practical gains are small but constant. You can drop background music to a murmur the moment a call starts without touching the music app. You can keep notification sounds audible while a webinar plays quietly. The catch with virtual devices

Virtual devices add a layer, and layers can confuse things.
